Challenges

Magnadyne began with a single, carrier-centric operating model that created several business and operational constraints over time, including lack of customer and device visibility, difficulty in expanding into new regions, and missed recurring revenue opportunities.

Results

By partnering with Zipit, Magnadyne created a path to offering connectivity to end-users directly, reduced the operational burden of scaling connected services and ultimately gained more control over its ability to expand into new regions and provide additional coverage options to subscribers.

About Magnadyne Corporation

Founded in 1969, Magnadyne has been a leader in mobile innovation for over five decades. The company partners with global suppliers to bring cutting-edge products to the domestic market. From RVs and marine crafts to heavy trucks and specialty vehicles, Magnadyne's diverse product lines and recognized brands keep people connected and enhance life on the move.

The Challenge

Magnadyne is a long-established developer and manufacturer of electronic components for the auto, truck, marine, and RV markets.

Before working with Zipit, Magnadyne was operating within a single-carrier model centered around a single U.S.-based mobile operator. That approach created several business and operational constraints:

  • Limited market expansion: A single-carrier model made it difficult to support customers in regions where other networks were preferred or required, and it added complexity when Magnadyne wanted to expand connectivity offerings into international markets like Canada.

  • High complexity of carrier diversification: Building direct relationships with additional carriers would have required Magnadyne to navigate device certification processes, contract negotiations, and ongoing carrier management independently.

  • Lack of customer and device visibility: Because connectivity was handled directly between the carrier and the end customer, Magnadyne had little insight into usage behavior, plan adoption, geographic demand, or the root causes of connectivity issues affecting customer support and driving connectivity-related support calls.

  • Missed recurring revenue opportunity: Without owning the connectivity relationship, Magnadyne could not directly monetize managed connectivity or value-added services.

  • Operational inefficiency: Managing connectivity across multiple carriers through separate backend systems would have introduced more overhead, less control, and more billing complexity.
"Having everything tied to a single carrier was limiting our visibility and our ability to grow. We needed a better way to move beyond a single-carrier model without taking on the complexity of managing multiple operator relationships ourselves."

- Mark Hockett, VP of Operations, Magnadyne Corporation

The Solution

Magnadyne chose Zipit because Zipit offered a way to simplify multi-carrier connectivity while reducing the operational burden of scaling connected services.

Key reasons included:

  • Access to multiple carriers through one partner

  • Support for device certification across new carrier networks

  • A single pane of glass for SIM and lifecycle management

  • A white-label end-user billing and subscription platform

  • Infrastructure to support international expansion, including Canadian language and currency requirements

  • Deep connectivity expertise, including guidance on cellular technologies, network transitions, and architecture decisions

In short, Zipit gave Magnadyne a path to expand faster, reduce complexity, and gain control over the customer connectivity experience.

Remote work in RV

Zipit delivered a multi-carrier connectivity and subscription management solution that helped Magnadyne modernize both its technical foundation and business model. This included:

  • Multi-carrier connectivity services across AT&T, Verizon, Rogers, and T-Mobile

  • Support for Canadian expansion, enabled by Rogers connectivity delivered through Zipit, plus e-commerce infrastructure with support for English & French languages and USD/CAD support, all enabled through Zipit's unified connectivity management and downstream billing platform.

  • Assistance with carrier certification, including third-party coordination to help Magnadyne get devices certified on Verizon and T-Mobile

  • Zipit’s connectivity management platform, giving Magnadyne centralized visibility into connection status, activation states, data usage, and troubleshooting activity across networks and carriers

  • An end-user billing and subscription portal, allowing Magnadyne to offer connectivity directly to subscribers under their own brand

  • Consolidated billing to Magnadyne, replacing multiple carrier invoices and billing cycles with one bill delivered automatically at the end of each month

  • Strategic technical guidance on topics such as 4G vs. 5G in LoRa-to-cellular architectures and the evolving North American 5G landscape, including SA and NSA readiness

The Results

By moving its connectivity business to Zipit, Magnadyne achieved meaningful commercial and operational gains:

  • Expanded into Canada with the carrier access and subscription infrastructure needed to support that market, without having to build and operate it themselves

  • Diversified beyond a single-carrier dependency, allowing broader regional coverage and greater flexibility

  • Created a new recurring revenue stream by offering managed connectivity and tiered plan options directly to RV-Link users

  • Gained end-to-end visibility into product usage, network behavior, and support-related connectivity issues

  • Improved subscriber support with better tools for troubleshooting, activation control, and usage monitoring

  • Reduced operational complexity through centralized, cross-carrier SIM lifecycle management

  • Simplified financial operations with one consolidated monthly bill instead of multiple carrier invoices

  • Strengthened product strategy with expert guidance on connectivity technologies and future-ready network planning
"Zipit helped us move from a single-carrier model with limited customer insight to a multi-carrier strategy that supports growth, flexibility, and better customer coverage."
