Errigal Powers Remote Network Monitoring with Multi-Carrier SIMs from Zipit

Challenges

Errigal's customers would report poor cellular service even when DAS indicators appeared normal, making it difficult to validate the end-user wireless experience at each site. Diagnosing in-person would be cost-prohibitive, so Errigal created AirScan to remotely test and monitor wireless signals but required reliable, multi-carrier access in a single SIM to operationalize.

Results

By partnering with Zipit, Errigal is able to deliver a practical, dependable solution that reduces dependence on costly, onsite troubleshooting.

"Their multi-carrier SIM solution is critical to our AirScan offering. It's not just about connecting to the strongest signal - we need to see all networks and control the testing. Zipit gives us reliability and control."

Venue Network Management

About Errigal Inc.

Founded in 2000 and headquartered in San Francisco, Errigal is a software provider specializing in engineering and operations for wireless networks, with a focus on Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS).

With decades of industry experience and 150,000+ devices currently under management of its software, Errigal are the go-to leaders in network operation, automation and management.

The Challenge

Errigal’s customers—primarily system integrators—deploy DAS solutions in complex environments like transit tunnels, stadiums, hospitals, airports, and large venues. These systems often serve as neutral hosts, allowing multiple carriers (e.g., Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile) to share infrastructure without owning it. This creates a interesting challenge: the venue or transit agency owns the DAS but lacks the in-house technical expertise to manage it effectively.

Errigal faced a recurring issue: venues would report poor cellular service even when DAS indicators appeared normal, making it difficult to validate the end-user wireless experience across each carrier network at each site. Diagnosing these problems in-person would require costly site visits by DAS-certified technicians, which can easily exceed $1,000 per visit. Errigal needed a way to remotely test and monitor wireless signals from all major carriers to provide actionable insights and reduce operational costs.

In response to this, Errigal developed the AirScan device—a compact IoT unit that connects to all three major U.S. carriers, collects RF performance data, and sends it back to the cloud.

This device would enable:

  • Multi-carrier signal testing (band scans, bandwidth tests, ping tests)

  • Remote diagnostics without site visits

  • Real-time visbility into Distributed Antenna System performance

However, to make this work as intended, Errigal needed a connectivity partner that could reliably support access to all three primary US carriers in a single SIM, provide more control over the networks the SIM would connect to, and handle high data usage if customers wanted to run frequent tests. (Average data consumption can spike up to 10GB/month if tests are run hourly, for example.)

"As veterans of the wireless telecom industry, we're very discerning about the solutions we bring to customers, and we take the same approach when deciding who to partner with."

The Solution

Errigal chose Zipit because it could meet both the technical and operational requirements of the AirScan solution.

Key factors that led to the decision to partner with Zipit included:

  • True multi-carrier connectivity in a single SIM, supporting AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile

  • Authorized North American carrier relationships, giving Errigal confidence in the long-term reliability of network access

  • More controlled SIM connectivity behavior, enabling the testing logic required for carrier-specific diagnostics

  • Capacity for higher data usage, supporting frequent and data-intensive testing scenarios

  • Deep technical expertise and responsive support, which stood out from prior vendors

Zipit's multi-carrier SIM solution gave Errigal the ability to support the AirScan device with reliable connectivity, carrier access flexibility, and the technical control needed to test each network intentionally. Just as importantly, Zipit served as a hands-on technical partner, helping Errigal to troubleshoot connectivity issues if and when they arise, and support AirScan deployments across the continental United States.

The Results

The partnership with Zipit has enabled Errigal to deliver a more practical and dependable remote monitoring solution for DAS customers operating in complex venues where wireless performance is business-critical.

The combination of Errigal's AirScan offering + Zipit connectivity enables:

  • DAS customers now reduce dependence on costly onsite troubleshooting, having an improved ability to diagnose service issues remotely

  • Greater visibility into real-world carrier performance at sites around the continental United States, and more controlled testing across carrier networks

  • A stronger technical foundation for supporting customer needs and a higher confidence in deployment stability long-term
"We tried several vendors before Zipit, but when it came to technical depth, it was hard to get clear, actionable answers. Zipit was different. They demonstrated  a deep, working knowledge of their platform, had authorized North American carrier relationships, and helped us troubleshoot effectively."
